Show Notes

This episode is a long-awaited interview with one of my favourite local rappers. I sat down with [Yy](http://peanutsandcorn.bandcamp.com/album/an-uneven-eleven) for a great conversation about Winnipeg rap history, Your Brother in My Backpack, [Peanuts & Corn](http://peanutsandcorn.bandcamp.com/), [Park-Like Setting](http://peanutsandcorn.bandcamp.com/album/craftsmen), Turn the Gun, his solo records, working with artists like mcenroe, [John Smith](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr346-bazooka-joe-and-rob-crooks-36ebaee1550ce2/), [Gruf the Druid, the Gumshoe Strut](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr120-gruf-the-druid-and-the-gumshoe-strut-354741eff8d7ccL/), [Rob Crooks](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr285-rob-crooks-364062156eff9e/), [Nestor Wynrush](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr287-nestor-wynrush-3645e2d586cfd2/), and others...and a whole hell of a lot more. WR480: SeanGeek

I linked up with the McGinity brothers from Winnipeg's [SeanGeek Podcast](http://seanmcginity.ca/) for an episode! We talked about their long-running show, their background in the local music scene (I was initially supposed to interview them years ago about their band [Dome](http://seanmcginity.ca/dome-band), but the band broke up before the podcast happened), hate mail, and a whole lot more! If this is your first episode of Witchpolice Radio... please note that we don't usually get so 'inside baseball' about podcasting -- but this is a fun interview that covers that as well as their involvement in Winnipeg music. This episode is brought to you by our friends at [the Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/), and by [Trevor Fisher](http://www.linkedin.com/in/fishertrevor) of Way2Wealth Management. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice). Dilla Day 2016 at The Good Will in Winnipeg: an interview with Brendan Kinley of Super Duty Tough Work and R&B chanteuse Keisha Booker. The night had guest performances by 3Peat, Fenom, Bazooka Joe, Chris Bvnnvtt and Keisha Booker. Together since 2014, Super Duty Tough Work is the brainchild of Brendan Kinley. He's an accomplished drummer and MC that has been in the Winnipeg music scene for a decade. They're an ensemble of musicians from the University of Manitoba's School of Jazz. SDTW plays 40 Dilla beats as they weave between them with the meticulousness of a DJ. WR055: Jen Zoratti / Pat Book

The gang’s all here for our last new episode of 2013: all three hosts are together in a room for the first time in months.    We’re joined by Winnipeg Free Press music critic and feminist blogger (Screaming in all Caps) Jen Zoratti, along with call-in guest Pat Book of Regina’s Sound Salvation Army music blog. The randomly-generated theme this week is “comedy,” and while the subject matter tends to be a little on the serious side, the song selections are a little more lighthearted. Watch for some bonus material over the holidays, and we’ll be back with some awesome new episodes in early January! Happy holidays! ...
