WR180: Harley James Flett

Although it snowed a week or so after this episode (of course it did, it's Winnipeg), we took advantage of the nice weather for an outdoor episode recorded on a picnic table at Assiniboine Park(!) with up-and-coming folk-punk artist Harley James Flett. In a conversation that goes in all kinds of directions, we talked folk music, Bad Brains, the ins and outs (but mostly outs) of attending music festivals, "chin" songs, the cassette renaissance, Harley's already-prolific Bandcamp catalogue and a lot more. ...

WR395: Dustin Harder

Dustin Harder is a local singer-songwriter, best known for his [Prairie Soul](http://www.facebook.com/prairiesoulmusic/) project, but he's also – as he puts it – the energy behind two upcoming festivals at Hilltop Resort: [Heart of the Nation Music Festival](http://www.facebook.com/events/366881723888100/) (July 5-7) and [Festival 59 Blues](http://www.facebook.com/Festival59Blues/) (Aug. 9-11). We talk about the work that goes into both festivals, how Dustin got involved with the venue, his own music, the artists on the bill – at Heart of the Nation, 22 local bands for $44 tickets – and a lot more. This episode is brought to you by our pals at [The Park Theatre](http://[[text](http://[text](http://))](http://)myparktheatre.com/). Don’t forget to support our friends at [Dub Ditch Picnic](http://dubditchpicnic.bandcamp.com/), who are trying to clear out as much stock as possible to [cover some medical costs](http://www.facebook.com/crizwell/posts/10156105481525636). ...

WR057: Buggsy #1

Witchpolice Radio went outernational this week! While we've talked to out-of-town guests on the show before, this episode marks the first time we've had a guest from overseas. Joining us on the line from Bristol, UK, to talk about this week's "alarm" theme -- and his righteous new album The Great Escape: Season Two -- was Buggsy #1.   Buggsy talked at great length about England's rap scene, the influence of reggae and dancehall on the culture, and growing up in a Rasta community. It's an interesting chat, and while he couldn't perform live like some of our in-studio guests have in the past (because of the whole in England thing), he did deliver some a cappella lyrics during the discussion. Do yourself a favour and check out his music now. ...
