Show Notes

Michael Falk is the artistic director at [Jazz Winnipeg](http://www.jazzwinnipeg.com/), as well as the man behind [Head in the Sand Records](http://headinthesand.ca/) and the former frontman of [Les Jupes](http://lesjupes.bandcamp.com/)... among many other roles in the Winnipeg music scene. We talk about all of that, this year's Jazz Fest lineup, and much more on this episode. Full disclosure: I do [freelance work for Jazz Winnipeg](http://www.jazzwinnipeg.com/blog/2019/2/23/welcome-to-alleyways), although I don't think it affects this podcast in any conflict-of-interest-y way. I would've wanted to have Mike on the show regardless. Also: I tried out the new recording gear for this episode (thank you everyone). As you can hear, I have a bit more practicing to do. Mike came through great, but I sound a bit distant. I figure with every episode I do, I'll get more an more familiar with the recorder and things will start to sound better and better. This episode brought to you by our pals at [The Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/)! Don't forget to support our friends at [Dub Ditch Picnic](http://dubditchpicnic.bandcamp.com), who are [trying to clear out as much stock as possible](http://www.facebook.com/crizwell/posts/10156105481525636) to cover some medical costs.

WR021: Allan Koehler

Our old pal Allan Koehler stopped by the basement to talk about "prostitution" (randomly generated word of the week) songs, eat some "pink goo" and generally hang out. If you don't know Al, he was the dancing robot for the Mouth-Boat, pretty much the fourth member of the band. He sheds a bit of light on this program about the "Sebastian the Robot" silliness -- basically saying he knows nothing about it, but that the costume is still intact and in his possession -- and I tacked part of the ransom note to the beginning of the intro. ...

An interview with long-running skate punks [In 2 Months](http://in2months.bandcamp.com/[text](http://)), in which we talk about maintaining punk energy into your late 30s, getting recognized in Ukraine, the enduring influence of ‘Survival of the Fattest’, and more! WR562: Roy Mexted

It’s weird to think of Churchill, Man., as a hot spot for anything but polar bears, but I had a great interview with [Roy Mexted](http://www.churchillentertainment.com/) — the second musician from Down Under (shoutout to Rob Knaggs) to fall in love with northern Manitoba I’ve had on the podcast. It's an interesting conversation about the appeal of the Arctic, Roy's Smiling Like a Sundog album, creating music and video content celebrating Churchill’s unique culture, and much more! This episode brought to you by [Devine Shirt Company](http://devineshirtcompany.ca/). Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice). You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case! You can also throw a one-time tip via [Buymeacoffee](http://www.buymeacoffee.com/witchpolice). As always, if you like the podcast, please tell a friend or 20! Rate and review on your podcast player of choice! Word of mouth is still the main way Witchpolice Radio reaches new ears. Thanks for listening! ...
