Show Notes

Welcome to a weird experiment! This isn't a typical episode of Witchpolice Radio. For this one, we hosted a secret show, featuring a live interview and performance with local Friday night bath music quartet [Lounge FM](http://loungefm.bandcamp.com/). The whole thing played out in front of an audience of about 10 people in an intimate little room (shoutout [Giant Skellies](http://soundcloud.com/giant-skellies)!) and it was a blast. As noted in the intro, the interview portion of this episode is pretty lo-fi, but it gave us some good ideas on how to improve it if we do more secret shows in the future. The music, of course, sounds great. This epsiode was brought to you by our friends at the [SUNWOLF](http://thesunwolflabel.com/) label, who are releasing the debut by Katie & the Wolves March. 22, as well as by Winnipeg’s own [Death Cassette](http://deathcassettemusic.bandcamp.com/releases), who are performing at the Handsome Daughter on Feb. 23. Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! If you like the show, please head down to [patreon.com/witchpolice](http://patreon.com/witchpolice) and for as little as a $1 month (less than 12 cents an episode), you can help keep the lights on!

WR310: Vic Ruggiero live!

This isn't a normal episode of the podcast. There's no interview, no format... it's almost two unedited hours of live music recorded in my backyard. New York singer-songwriter (and frontman of the legendary Slackers) [Vic Ruggiero](http://www.facebook.com/vicruggiero) earlier this month, and he stopped by the house for an intimate solo set on my deck. This 'episode' is a relatively lo-fi recording of the full show. Thanks to Winnipeg ska legend [Greg Milka Crowe](http://myspace.com/gregmilkacrowe) for opening the show (unfortunately I didn't get his set recorded), to Ian Lodewyks (who plays bass for Vic on some of these songs) for his major role in making this surreal experience a reality, and to everyone who came out to enjoy a world-class artist in such a casual setting. I've been a fan of Vic's music for over 20 years, and this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I'm so glad it happened, and I'm glad I'm able to share it, in some way, with the rest of you. Enjoy. We'll be back to your regularly-scheduled episodes of Witchpolice Radio on Wednesday. ...

WR032: Steve Jowsey / Drew Diduke

Our pals at DEAFWISH are represented on Witchpolice Radio for the third consecutive week, this time in the person of Drew Diduke, a member of Deafwish band Up n' Atom. He joined hosts Sam, Rob and fellow guest Steve Jowsey -- ex-Up n' Atom drummer and current member of Clipwing and Prophet) to talk about the "hostage" theme. The result is a totally gnarly high-five pop-punk fest, dudes. Check it out. ...

WR044: Crooked Brothers / Mahogany Frog

Jon, solo-hosting this week, is joined by two Jesses: returning guest Jesse Matas of the Crooked Brothers and Jesse Warkentin of Mahogany Frog. They talk the "sushi" theme and listen to a ton of crazy Japanese music.   Matas, of course, is a long-time friend of the show who appeared on a two-part episode of the podcast earlier in the summer, and has a bunch of music on the blog. Warkentin, on the other hand, is a member of Jon's favourite local psych-y/rock-y/synth-y band. ...
