WR148: Greg Arcade / Aaron Starr

For this week's episode, we caught our old friend (and frequent guest) Greg Arcade at a rehearsal with fellow made-in-Manitoba country singer Aaron Starr and rhythm section Josh Ayers and Nathan Kehler (both of whom chime in here and there throughout the show). Because there were other people rehearsing in the same building, to get some quiet, we decided to record in the back of a van. It kind of worked. There's some weird humming at the beginning and a train going by at one point, but otherwise it's all good! We talk country and "upset" songs. ...

WR726: Freddy and the Fire Nation

Fred Warner, bassist and bandleader of jazz fusion outfit Freddy and the Fire Nation, is back on the show after first appearing on a Quick Hits episode last year.We talked about the band’s upcoming releases, about focusing on a slick, produced sound versus “that greasy goodness”, playing shows, and much more.   Just a heads-up that there were some technical difficulties on this one (as heard in the intro), but it's still a fun listen. Also, since the Fire Nation's full-band recordings have yet to be released, the songs you'll hear on this podcast are Fred's solo demos. This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company, who have brand new Witchpolice merch in the works! Watch for that! Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon!
