Two members of local soul ensemble Flat Land Soul Band are on the podcast, talking about their new record, coming into their own sound rather than imitating the classics, collaborative songwriting, calling it quits after five years as a band (insert sad face emoji), and much more!

We hung out and talked about the record, the ukulelessance, covering heavy topics while playing generally upbeat instruments, and much more! WR390: Michael Falk

Michael Falk is the artistic director at [Jazz Winnipeg](http://www.jazzwinnipeg.com/), as well as the man behind [Head in the Sand Records](http://headinthesand.ca/) and the former frontman of [Les Jupes](http://lesjupes.bandcamp.com/)... among many other roles in the Winnipeg music scene. We talk about all of that, this year's Jazz Fest lineup, and much more on this episode. Full disclosure: I do [freelance work for Jazz Winnipeg](http://www.jazzwinnipeg.com/blog/2019/2/23/welcome-to-alleyways), although I don't think it affects this podcast in any conflict-of-interest-y way. I would've wanted to have Mike on the show regardless. Also: I tried out the new recording gear for this episode (thank you everyone). As you can hear, I have a bit more practicing to do. Mike came through great, but I sound a bit distant. I figure with every episode I do, I'll get more an more familiar with the recorder and things will start to sound better and better. This episode brought to you by our pals at [The Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/)! Don't forget to support our friends at [Dub Ditch Picnic](http://dubditchpicnic.bandcamp.com), who are [trying to clear out as much stock as possible](http://www.facebook.com/crizwell/posts/10156105481525636) to cover some medical costs. ...

WR342: Satanic Rights

After what seems like years of bantering back and forth on Twitter, [Satanic Rights](http://satanicrights.bandcamp.com/) – well, two of 'em, anyway – are on the podcast! We talk about their interesting history, combating the (mis)perception that they're a metal band, the glory days of the Royal Albert, and the ridiculous origins of the name 'Blues Druid'. This episode is brought to you by [Transistor 66 Record Company](http://www.transistor66.com/), a label with a deep catalogue of local and international music, including the debut album by this episode's guests, Satanic Rights. This episode is also brought to you by our friends at [the Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/). Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! If you like the show, please head down to[ patreon.com/witchpolice](http://hwww.patreon.com/witchpolice) and for as little as a month (less than 12 cents an episode), you can help keep the lights on! ...
