Show Notes

UMFM's Bryan Sveinson, host of [The Pity Party](http://umfm.com/programming/shows/the-pity-party), is on the podcast to talk punk, emo, and the upcoming[ Nothing Under the Tree](http://umfm.bandcamp.com/releases) project – a collection of local punk bands performing Christmas songs recorded at UMFM's studio. The Xmas album drops Dec. 5th on Bandcamp (and elsewhere), and proceeds from the sale of downloads goes directly to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Big thanks to everyone who voted for Witchpolice Radio in the Uniter's most recent readers' poll. This marks the third consecutive year the show has been chosen as 'Best Local Podcast', and it's so cool to see that people not only listen to the show, but like it enough to take the time to throw us some votes. Thanks, everyone. This episode brought to you by our friends at the [Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/). Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. WR334: Romi Mayes

On this episode, we're ridin' with the queen! Singer-songwriter and rock n' fuckin' roller [Romi Mayes](http://www.facebook.com/Romi-Mayes-Band-Official-Music-Page-110129255685862/) is an integral part of Winnipeg's independent music scene, and we finally have her on the podcast. The timing couldn't be better, too, as she has a LOT going on. If you're listening to this podcast on the day it's released, Romi will be appearing live on your device of choice tonight as part of the [Village Idiots' Live at the Roslyn series](http://www.facebook.com/WeAreTheVillageIdiots/). She's also resurrecting her late-90s country outfit Off the Wagon for [two reunion sets](http://www.facebook.com/events/2288008008079709/) at their old haunt this weekend, and she's working on her annual [Lonely Jew at Christmas](https://www.facebook.com/events/876631569392889/) party. ...and that's just scratching the surface. WR697: Dog Dad Posse

I caught up with BC (via Toronto via Winnipeg) rapper Dog Dad Posse to talk about his upcoming material (including contributions from a number of local Manitoba artists), his ultra-DIY West Hawk Tapes label, linking up with producers as far away as Nigeria, and much more. This episode features music by Dog Dad Posse and collaborators, including Canadian acts Strawberry Shorttemper, Percy Piffus and T-Bai, as well as King Lxcx and Diabxlical Kay from South Africa, and CE Savage and DG Woks from Nigeria! Need more Dog Dad Posse? Check out episode #604 from 2021. This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company! Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon! WR711: The Quiffs

There are no local bands I love more than the short-lived but glorious garage punk foursome The Quiffs. They haven’t been active in about 15 years, but I was able to get all four members back together for a podcast! We talked about learning their instruments as they went along, their outstanding — and not available anywhere online — album, the story behind “Mutant Legs”, and much more!Peppered throughout the interview (and in a big ol' chunk at the end) is their entire recorded catalogue (all ~18 minutes of it) -- the full-length and the three-song demo/EP.  YOU'RE FUCKING WELCOME This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company, who have brand new Witchpolice merch in the works! Watch for that! Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon! You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case!
