Show Notes

Once a year, we help out our pals at UMFM 101.5 during their Pledge-O-Rama fund drive and head down to the UMFM studios to record a live on-air episode. We've done it in 2013, 2014 and now 2015 as well. This episode was recorded about a month ago, on election night, just minutes after we watched Stephen Harper's concession speech on live TV. Our guests were Daniel Peloquin-Hopfner of excellent roots/folk trio Red Moon Road and UMFM's own program director Michael Elves

WR283: Housepanther

When her [Spacebutt](http://spacebutt.bandcamp.com/) bandmates went their separate ways earlier this year, Bailee Woods didn't miss a beat, and shifted her focus to a solo power-pop project. As [Housepanther](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/) (the person/the band/the legend), she released last month's excellent '[Club Soda Lows](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/album/club-soda-lows)', an album that marries anxiety and dread with massive pop hooks. We met up in a mall food court for a ridiculous conversation about all of that and more. This episode brought to you by the [release party for 'Quiet Dreams'](http://www.facebook.com/events/207263916702467/) the new album by local indie rockers (and past Witchpolice guests) Hearing Trees. The event, presented by our friends at the Park Theatre, takes place May 25 at the Good Will Social Club May 25, with guests The Perms, Micah Erenberg and Sophie Stevens. The episode is also brought to you by [Fourth Quarter Records](http://www.fourthquarterrecords.com/), your home for the best local hip-hop, as well as merchandise like the glorious 3Peat hoodies you've been seeing everywhere lately. ...

WR480: SeanGeek

I linked up with the McGinity brothers from Winnipeg's [SeanGeek Podcast](http://seanmcginity.ca/) for an episode! We talked about their long-running show, their background in the local music scene (I was initially supposed to interview them years ago about their band [Dome](http://seanmcginity.ca/dome-band), but the band broke up before the podcast happened), hate mail, and a whole lot more! If this is your first episode of Witchpolice Radio... please note that we don't usually get so 'inside baseball' about podcasting -- but this is a fun interview that covers that as well as their involvement in Winnipeg music. This episode is brought to you by our friends at [the Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/), and by [Trevor Fisher](http://www.linkedin.com/in/fishertrevor) of Way2Wealth Management. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice). You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case! ...

WR011: Tim Haverluck

Since Rob Crooks is still in Europe, we brought in another guest host this week -- Tim Haverluck of local bands The Stabs, the Smash Brothers, the Red River Ramblers, and awesome back-in-the-day punk bands like Kirby and Gherkin. In a first for this program, Tim performed a live song at the end of the show. It was meant to illustrate a particular guitar style he was talking about, but I really like how it turned out, and I'm going to encourage all of our future guests (assuming they're muscial) to do the same. This show, somehow, also marks the first time we've ever played a local band on-air, as KEN mode's "The Hammer Party" fit the theme. And yes, Tim, that's "KEN mode," not "Keb Mo'." ...
