Show Notes

Things are a little fishy on this week's episode of Witchpolice Radio.

Jon is solo-hosting once again, and he discusses sea creatures with Marshall Birch and Steve Basham of Winnipeg goof-rockers the Unbelievable Bargains. There's also a mysterious guest co-host known as "Arctic Char" joining in the fun.

The fellas from the Bargains performed live, and while Steve's song is the one that ended up on the show, you can still catch Marshall's performance in video form below.

Starting with an appearance on the show as a guest in the spring, he returned as part of our photography panel show at the Handsome Daughter in the fall. He wasn't only a guest, though. Dwayne conducted interviews with a number of out-of-town and touring acts (Chixdiggit, Limblifter, Safe to Say, Son of Dave) for his It's A Music Thing website throughout the year, and he was kind enough to share the audio of those interviews for use on the podcast as well . Some of those interviews, due to episodes that were more time-sensitive, etc., didn't see the light of day on Witchpolice Radio... until now. Here's a compilation of short conversations Dwayne had with members of iconic '90s punks Face to Face, Canadian psychobillies the Creepshow, and up-and-coming New Orleans hardcore band Pears. All three were in Winnipeg at various times during the latter part of the year. ...

WR634: Alex Maher

I’ve been loving Alex Maher’s recent social media experiments with loop pedals, so I had him on the podcast for a conversation about moving to Winnipeg from B.C. (during a pandemic), sax, seeking out the ‘fatness’ in funk, and so much more! This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company.Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon. Word of mouth is still the main way Witchpolice Radio reaches new ears. Thanks for listening! ...
