Show Notes

Things are a little fishy on this week's episode of Witchpolice Radio.

Jon is solo-hosting once again, and he discusses sea creatures with Marshall Birch and Steve Basham of Winnipeg goof-rockers the Unbelievable Bargains. There's also a mysterious guest co-host known as "Arctic Char" joining in the fun.

The fellas from the Bargains performed live, and while Steve's song is the one that ended up on the show, you can still catch Marshall's performance in video form below.

WR713: Dog Pops

The guests on this episode, Dog Pops, are a new band that emerged from local (sorta) indie supergroup Marshall & Some Buddies. They’re getting set to play their first show and just released a very bird-heavy EP.We talked songs about food and animals (mostly written on the toilet), recurring dog themes, not taking yourself too seriously, the debut record, avoiding social media, and much more. This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company, who have brand new Witchpolice merch in the works! Watch for that! Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon, like our newest patron, Jeremy Jackiew (who is getting a second shoutout here because I haven't recorded the audio one yet)! You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case! You can also throw a one-time tip via Buymeacoffee. As always, if you like the podcast, please tell a friend or 20! Rate and review on your podcast player of choice! Word of mouth is still the main way Witchpolice Radio reaches new ears. WR376: Paige Drobot

Pop/psychedelic/progressive... [Paige Drobot](http://paigedrobot.bandcamp.com/)'s sound is hard to define, but it draws from a number of (coincidentally alliterative) genres – all of which are on display on her upcoming solo EP, Zero Thought. We talk about the record, teaching guitar, being weird, gravitating toward the avant-garde, and much more. There also may have been a drug deal going down while we recorded this in a parking lot. Oh, and you can also hear Paige's cover of a Johnny Sizzle (!) tune on this episode. This episode brought to you by our pals at [Transistor 66 Record Co.](http://www.transistor66.com/paigedrobot) and The [Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/)! Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! WR498: Gold Mountain

It’s always a blast talking to the [Gold Mountain](http://goldmountainsound.bandcamp.com/) gang on the podcast. I just recorded a new interview with 3/5 of the Winnipeg indie rock band, and we talked about their lineup reaching its final form, ‘emotionality’ in songwriting, the uniquely weird situation we’re all in with the pandemic, and a whole lot more. Note: because there are three interviewees on a remote call, the audio quality is not as solid as the one-on-one remote episodes, but it's still definitely listenable, and it's always a great conversation with this band. This episode is brought to you by [Never Better Coffee](http://www.neverbettercoffee.ca/)! Don’t forget to check out some socially-distanced shows at [the Park Theatre](https://www.myparktheatre.com/), who have slowly reopened after a long COVID-19 closure. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice).
