WR499: Micah Erenberg

After a false start at making this happen, here's my conversation with singer-songwriter [Micah Erenberg](http://micaherenberg.bandcamp.com/), on the line from the teeming metropolis of Matlock, Manitoba! We talked about the work he’s doing at [the Secret Beach](http://linktr.ee/the_secret_beach) studio with other artists, how the pandemic has affected him (it hasn’t been so bad out in Matlock), his experiences touring Europe, comparing his two LPs, and much more! Don’t forget to check out some socially-distanced shows at [the Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/), who have slowly reopened after a long COVID-19 closure. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice). You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case! See you on episode #500 (which is a regular episode, but lots of fun social media content will be happening to reflect the milestone)! ...

WR421: Alex Seville

In the late '90s, I played in a ska band called [Grandpa's Army](http://www.witchpolice.com/2009/04/every-grandpas-army-song-ever.html), and my old friend Alex Seville was the keyboard player. Alex has been living in San Francisco for the past few years, where he’s not playing music, but is – in a turn surprising to anyone who knew him in Winnipeg – participating in freestyle rap-based improv. We talk about all of that, plus the weird creative projects we did back in the day (including a [documentary about Grandpa's Army](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoMrwRIHrhk&list=PL7AAE58E5EC81BEB4)) that - in a roundabout way - eventually led to me doing this podcast. Songs on this episode: Grandpa's Army - "Train to Hicksville" Grandpa's Army - "The Land of Nod" (both live recordings) A Auspicii - "Boris" (weird backwards thing we did) Jesse Matas feat. Confucious tha Ruthless - Rolling in the Juicebox (recorded by Alex) This episode is brought to you by our friends at [The Park Theatre](http://myparktheatre.com/), who are hosting the second annual [Manitoba Podcast Festival](http://www.facebook.com/mbpodfest) Sept. 29. It's also brought to you by MCMA Award-nominated country artist [Brian Jacobs](http://brianjacobsmusic.ca/), whose debut solo record '[Highways and Backroads](http://https://brianjacobs.bandcamp.com/album/highways-backroads)' is available now! ...

The three longest-running members of local emo outfit Boys' Club (their newest member is a past Witchpolice guest in his own right) invited us to an elementary school music room (seriously) for our latest episode. We talk 'cobra' songs, defining their genre, their unorthodox recording/performing schedule and more! Stay tuned 'til the end for an exclusive acoustic performance of a new Boys' Club song from their upcoming album! ...
