Show Notes

Here's an interview with Christy Taronno (vocals/keyboards) of alt-pop outfit Paper Machetes!

We talked about the new Balancing Act EP, writing pop songs with substance, releasing a debut record during the pandemic, and much more.

As you'll hear in the disclaimer at the beginning, I had a file problem, but was able to salvage Christy's side of the conversation (although mine sounds a bit rough). Still listenable, though, and a very good chat.

This episode brought to you by our pals at Devine Shirt Company.

WR441: Jordan Voth

In-demand Winnipeg producer [Jordan Voth](http://jnvoth.ca/) has a busy schedule working with local artists and putting his unique sonic stamp on their (mainly) punk, hardcore, emo and metal records. He's back on the show for the first time in a couple of years to talk about his huge list of 2019 releases – including projects for bands like [Waster](http://witchpolice.podiant.co/e/wr354-waster-370672e9cf2056/), [Screaming at Traffic](http://witchpolice.podiant.co/e/wr416-screaming-at-traffic-37b4e1a289a944/), [Nice Cops](http://witchpolice.podiant.co/e/wr335-nice-cops-36cdcc71d0a3a6/), and more – and what he's looking forward to in 2020. We also touch on Jordan's own band, Bleed American, as well as his inexplicable love for the Toronto Maple Leafs and his thoughts on the whole Mike Babcock situation (which was fresh news when we recorded the interview), as well as the social reckoning hockey seems to be having in general. This episode is brought to you by our pals at [the Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/), as well as [the Beer Boutique](http://www.facebook.com/beerboutiquewpg/), managed by Winnipeg punk mainstay [StevO Nelson](http://witchpolice.podiant.co/e/wr440-stevo-nelson-37f6eda874119e/). WR012: Shauna Alcorn

This week's episode is all about being "Dependent." Along with guest host **Shauna Alcorn** , Witchpolice Radio regulars Sam and Jon discussed synth music, record collection, Jon's innate ability to encourage others to drink to excess, and more. Oh, and we played some great songs, too, based on the randomly-generated theme. ...

WR531: The Bloodshots

It's a new interview (it had been way too long!) with rock n’ rollers [The Bloodshots!](http://www.bloodshotsmusic.com/) We talked about their signing with [Golden Robot Records](http://goldenrobotrecords.com/), playing more layered, complex music, Winnipeg’s inherent weirdness as a place to play shows, and much more! Note that one member of this band (sorry, Orvis!) is difficult to hear. It's one of the hazards of doing these remote episodes with large groups -- sometimes connections/devices/etc. can have an impact. It definitely doesn't take away from the quality of the overall episode, though! This episode brought to you by [Rob Crooks](http://robcrooks.bandcamp.com/), whose outstanding new album, Introducing the Ghost, is out now from [Saskatoon Folk Rap Records](http://saskatoonfolkraprecords.bandcamp.com/), and by [Boots & Saddle](http://ckuw.ca/programs/detail/boots-and-saddle) on CKUW, hosted by [Sean Burns](http://seanburns.bandcamp.com/) Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice).
