Show Notes

I had a great conversation with Hamilton (via Winnipeg via Selkirk via Brokenhead Ojibway Nation) 'moccasingaze' artist [Zoongide’ewin](http://zoongideewinmusic.bandcamp.com/)! We talked about his deadly new record, [Bleached Wavves](http://zoongideewinmusic.bandcamp.com/album/bleached-wavves) ([Paper Bag Records](http://paperbagrecords.com/)), about his early career in Manitoba, discovering his shoegaze sound and embracing his Indigenous culture and heritage, and much more. This episode is brought to you by [Never Better Coffee](http://www.neverbettercoffee.ca/) and by [Northern Royals](http://northernroyals.com/)! Don’t forget to check out some socially-distanced shows at [the Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/), who have slowly reopened after a long COVID-19 closure. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice), including the most recent patron, Bill Northcott (I will be thanking new patrons on-air next episode). You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case!

WR459: Hearing Trees

It’s been years since Graham Hnatiuk of thought-provoking indie rockers [Hearing Trees](http://www.hearingtrees.org/) was on the show, but they have an excellent new single and video (“[Bones](http://hearingtrees.bandcamp.com/track/bones)”) out now and are about to head back out on tour... so it seemed like a good time. Here's a conversation with Graham about the band’s lineup changes, making music for people who take the time to listen, getting heard in our nightmarish techno-dystopia, and much more! This episode is brought to you by our pals at [the Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/). ..and don’t forget to check out Manitoba country singer (and past Witchpolice guest) [Brian Jacobs](http://witchpolice.com/e/wr394-brian-jacobs-377790d472f542/), [Feb. 29 at the Kenmor Theatre](http://www.eventbrite.ca/e/brian-jacobs-band-kenmor-theatre-tickets-86810846579) in Morden! ...

WR320: Harley James Flett

Singer-songwriter [Harley James Flett](http://harleyjamesflett.bandcamp.com/releases) may have packed up and moved to Toronto, but he maintains his Winnipeg DIY sensibilities. Best known as a folk-punk artist, he's working on new material for a November release that leans more toward alt-country territory. We talk hockey (a lot), starting fresh in a new city, an entire album of songs Harley scrapped and has never released, and much more. Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! If you like the show, please head down to [patreon.com/witchpolice](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice) and for as little as $1 a month (less than 12 cents an episode), you can help keep the lights on! This episode is brought to you by our friends at the Park Theatre, who have a whole calendar of great upcoming shows. Check it out on their website for more details! ...and speaking of the Park, be sure to check out the inaugural [Manitoba Podcast Festival](http://www.facebook.com/events/2188824571388548/), happening there Sept. 30! ...

WR004: Drugs

Here's the latest episode of the Witchpolice Radio podcast. This week's theme was "Drugs," which proved to be a little difficult, since it's such a prevalent topic in music. It wasn't hard to find songs, it was hard to choose the best ones to play. As usual, there's a short (one-hour) version as well as a longer, more rambling version, but the extended one gives you more discussion about straight-edge, hating the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the ethics of eating meat, television and other off-topic turns. I think this is one of our better podcasts to date, just in the music selection alone, but you can be the judge of that. ...
