Show Notes

Roots/folk/bluegrass ensemble [Hay Fever](http://www.hayfeverband.com/) may have come to their genre of choice via a different route than most bands. While their excellent debut album is steeped in roots tradition, vocalist Zohreh Gervais and multi-instrumentalist Greg Hay sat down to talk about the five-piece's deep classical background (Greg, for example, is a member of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra), and the way that has impacted their sound. This episode brought to you by the Park Theatre, which is host to [Prairie Diva presents Spring Fever: Burlesque Fusion Cabaret](http://www.facebook.com/events/1597646643653916/), April 27-28... and by our friends in Winnipeg's finest rap group, [3Peat](http://https://threepeatmusic.bandcamp.com/), who are playing a [fundraising show](http://www.facebook.com/events/395512404256728/) for their upcoming European tour on April 27 at the Good Will. Stay tuned for an interview with 3Peat on next week's podcast! We also wanted to give a huge shoutout to everyone who has supported the podcast so far this month -- whether that's through sharing a link, subscribing to the show, following us on social media, or by supporting the podcast financially via [Patreon](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice). Big hugs go out to Anthony Valade (oh man, I hope I pronounced your last name correctly!) and Omar Kinnarath, as well as =CF= and another new patron who chose to donate without a reward (i.e. without getting a shoutout on the show or the website). There are no words for what this support means. Thank you so much.

WR107: Ziggy Marley

Here's your last episode of 2014! It's a bonus episode that doesn't fall into the usual Witchpolice Radio format because it wasn't originally recorded as a podcast. Back in the fall, WR host Sam had the opportunity to interview reggae icon Ziggy Marley for a piece in Metro Winnipeg. He recorded the conversation, of course, and it's presented here along with a number of Ziggy's songs interspersed throughout. The chat itself is fairly short (as Sam was only given a short window of time with Marley), but the songs flesh it out to a reasonable length. ...

WR283: Housepanther

When her [Spacebutt](http://spacebutt.bandcamp.com/) bandmates went their separate ways earlier this year, Bailee Woods didn't miss a beat, and shifted her focus to a solo power-pop project. As [Housepanther](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/) (the person/the band/the legend), she released last month's excellent '[Club Soda Lows](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/album/club-soda-lows)', an album that marries anxiety and dread with massive pop hooks. We met up in a mall food court for a ridiculous conversation about all of that and more. This episode brought to you by the [release party for 'Quiet Dreams'](http://www.facebook.com/events/207263916702467/) the new album by local indie rockers (and past Witchpolice guests) Hearing Trees. The event, presented by our friends at the Park Theatre, takes place May 25 at the Good Will Social Club May 25, with guests The Perms, Micah Erenberg and Sophie Stevens. The episode is also brought to you by [Fourth Quarter Records](http://www.fourthquarterrecords.com/), your home for the best local hip-hop, as well as merchandise like the glorious 3Peat hoodies you've been seeing everywhere lately. ...

WR715: Antonio and Giovanna Mazza

We go deep into a supernaturally-inspired electro-prog concept album on this episode, talking 'Luana Moth' with its creator, Antonio Mazza and his sister, Giovanna Mazza, who sings on the record. It's a fun one, and the record is abolutely deadly. Tune in for a conversation about everything from the importance of interludes, to the daunting task of (maybe one day) performing such a complex piece of music live. Huge thanks to everyone who supports the podcast on Patreon! You can help out for as little as $1 a month if you like the show and want to throw some change in the guitar case! You can also throw a one-time tip via Buymeacoffee. As always, if you like the podcast, please tell a friend or 20! Rate and review on your podcast player of choice! Word of mouth is still the main way Witchpolice Radio reaches new ears. Thanks for listening! ...
