Show Notes

This week's guests are experimental psychedelic jazz-fusion instrumental (that's already a mouthful, plus they throw 'shoegaze' in there somewhere) group [Odd Outfit](https://oddoutfit.bandcamp.com/releases). We talk about their excellent debut release, Up/Down (Aug. 2017), their experiences as a jazz-rooted band with little connection to the local jazz scene, and much more! This episode is brought to you by the first-annual Winnipeg Weekender; two nights of live music, DJs and comedy presented by (among others) our friend, UMFM DJ Aaron "The Invisible Man" Young. The show happens Oct. 21 and 22 at the Pyramid Cabaret and the Yellow Dog Tavern.

WR289: Slow//Steady

Regular co-host Ryan Sanders hops in the driver's seat for this episode, bringing frequent guest Tony Beaudoin (of Union Stockyards) along for the ride. Together, they interview one-half of local punk rock supergroup [Slow//Steady](http://https://slowsteady.bandcamp.com/)! This episode was recorded a few months back, so since then, Slow//Steady has emerged from its cocoon and is back on the scene, having played a big show at the Good Will this past weekend. This episode is brought to you by our friends at the Park Theatre, who are presenting [Brujeria with Dayglo Abortions, Incite, and Suburban Hypocrites June 12](http://www.facebook.com/events/1845395175510863/). The episode is also brought to you by [Fourth Quarter Records](http://www.fourthquarterrecords.com/), your home for quality local hip-hop, as well as merchandise like the glorious 3Peat hoodies you've been seeing everywhere lately. ...

WR307: Crabskull

Local superproducer [Crabskull](http://crabskull.bandcamp.com/) is someone I've wanted to talk to on the podcast for a long time. Between his work with Winnipeg hip-hop luminaries like 3Peat and Charlie Fettah, his cassette label ([Fab Itch Tapes](http://thefabulousitchcassetteco.bandcamp.com/)), and his psychedelic, sci-fi solo productions, he's behind some of the most original music the city has heard in years. We talk about his vast archive of beats, the inspirations for some of his more out-there stuff, and much more! Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like Dr. Devin King, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! If you like the show, please head down to [patreon.com/witchpolice](http://www.patreon.com/witchpolice), and for as little as $1 a month (less than 12 cents an episode), you can help keep the lights on! This episode is brought to you by our friends at the [Park Theatre](http://www.myparktheatre.com/), who have a whole calendar of great upcoming shows. Check it out on their website for more details! ...and speaking of the Park, be sure to check out the inaugural[ Manitoba Podcast Festival](http://www.facebook.com/events/2188824571388548/), happening there Sept. 30! ...

WR051: Adam Parsons / Ryan Sanders

Returning guests Adam Parsons of Up n’ Atom and Ryan Sanders, formerly of Knifeinmyback and BSY (expect music by both of these groups on Witchpolice soon) join us to talk about this week's randomly-generated “snake” theme!    This episode includes some news about Up n’ Atom’s upcoming LP, a ‘weird animal facts’ quiz game and lots of great ‘snake’-themed song selections, including a choice by Jesus le Jesus, who was originally intended to appear on this show but will be popping up at a later date. You also get a listen to one of Adam's early bands, Planet Uranus, whose work will also be popping up on Witchpolice some time before the end of the year. ...
