Show Notes

We cover new territory on this week's episode in a sit-down with four members of Amnesiac, Winnipeg's finest Radiohead tribute band. Far from just a cover band, the Amnesiac boys talk about the business behind tribute acts, taking on such a challenging songbook, and their upcoming gig at the Pyramid on Dec. 18.

WR241: Ogimaa

The podcast hasn't been this heavy in quite a while. This week's guests are new-on-the-scene doom trio **[Ogimaa](https://ogimaa.bandcamp.com/)** , who have been generating buzz thanks to their excellent debut EP _[Desolation](https://ogimaa.bandcamp.com/releases)_. The surprisingly (based on their music) soft-spoken band members talk about the origins of the band (and their unique name), the EP, how receptive Winnipeg is to such a punishing style, and more! ...

WR047: Live on UMFM

FEB. 2022 NOTE: Dave having been one of 600+ musicians interviewed on this show over the past decade DOES NOT mean anyone involved condones either the incident he was recently arrested for OR the various disgusting things he was accused of a few years prior. At the time of this podcast, he was just a guy in a band.   The podcast is usually prerecorded in a casual basement setting, often weeks prior to appearing on this website and months before being aired on 101.5 UMFM in Winnipeg. This week, however, is UMFM's annual Pledge-O-Rama fund drive, so we made the trek down to the UMFM studios at the University of Manitoba to do a live on-air broadcast.   Fortuitously, Dave Z, of such bands as The Brat Attack and Dead Peasants Revolt, happened to have one day left in his trip to Winnipeg from his new home in St. John's, Newfoundland, so he appeared as our guest. Former Brat Attack drummer -- and once and future Up n' Atom drummer -- Johnny Perrin made a surprise visit to the station while the show was underway and became guest number two.   UMFM's pledge drive runs until Oct. 25, so depending when you read this, there may still be time for you to support campus/community radio. There are a ton of amazing incentives for making a pledge. Just check out the station's website and be sure to mention Witchpolice Radio if you're planning on donating! ...

WR358: Housepanther and Wrecker

Individually, Bailee Woods and Jory Strachan perform under the names [Housepanther](http://housepanther.bandcamp.com/album/club-soda-lows) and [Wrecker](http://www.facebook.com/wreckerofficial/). On their new collaborative EP, however, they form like Voltron and become... [HOMEWRECKER](http://www.transistor66.com/homewrecker). Coming out, fittingly, on Valentine's Day, the EP release is the kickoff to an eastern Canadian tour. These are two of my favourite guests on the podcast and they make beautiful music together! This episode brought to you by our friends at [Transistor 66 Records](http://www.transistor66.com/), as well as by Winnipeg's own Death Cassette, who are performing at the Handsome Daughter on Feb. 23. Thanks to everyone who has supported the podcast thus far. Thanks to supporters like you, we can keep churning out interviews twice a week! If you like the show, please head down to [patreon.com/witchpolice](http://patreon.com/witchpolice) and for as little as a $1 month (less than 12 cents an episode), you can help keep the lights on! ...
